Syncro7 Dry End for Smurfit Kappa Lurgan
Escada Systems recently completed a project with Smurfit Kappa Lurgan to upgrade their corrugator by integrating a Fosber Twin400 slitter scorer into their existing Agnati dry end.
Escada supplied and installed their Syncro7 dry end control system to manage the order change and to communicate with the new Fosber equipment, the existing Agnati dry end machines, Baviera steam system and the OMP scheduling system. Standard Syncro interfaces were used for the majority of the communications but the Hitachi PLC interfaces for the stacker were reverse engineered by Escada working with the SK Lurgan engineering department to ensure that the features of the existing dry end were maintained.
Escada prepared for a tight installation schedule by pre-installing and testing most of their equipment in advance. A successful installation saw a number of different vendors and the customer working well together, providing SK Lurgan with a state of the art platform to enable future upgrades of their corrugator with machinery from any manufacturer. They also have access to Escada’s 24/7 support service and VPN based remote access in the event that they any experience problems.
All New Syncro 7 Dry End Control for RIGID Limerick
Escada and RIGID Group recently celebrated completing the successful installation of Escada’s Syncro 7 control system on the Massenzana Corrugator at Limerick. Whilst the corrugator machinery is in good condition, RIGID had identified the ageing and unsupported control system as a major business risk. By replacing it with Escada’s state of the art Dry End control the plant benefits from productivity improvements due to the latest technology and full support from the Escada customer service team, improving reliability and giving the corrugator a new lease of life.
Pictured below are Donie Goulding, John Malone, Tom Keating, Joe Carey and Colm Loughran (RIGID), and Iain Crampton (Escada).
SuperCorr 2016, Orlando Florida

Escada to celebrate its 30th anniversary at FEFCO.....
2015 sees the 30th anniversary of Escada Systems! What better way to celebrate this than at FEFCO along with our customers – who’ve been together with us on our journey and made this landmark possible. Escada was founded in 1985 and quickly gained a reputation for delivering high performance real-time industrial control systems. Escada were invited to develop a Dry End control system by a plant in Holland to improve the efficiency of the Corrugator. This is where Escada’s first product was born - the ‘Escort’ dry end control system. Not only was a product born, but also a key ethos that remains a huge focus at Escada, and that is our excellent working relationships with our customers. Many aspects of Escada’s products that are available on the market today have been developed together with our customers, and we’ve also worked together on many specialised and bespoke applications.
Over its 30 year life, without doubt the key factor in the success of Escada has been evolution – taking place by maintaining these close relationships with customers and also machine manufacturers whilst having a keen eye on technology and the demands of the industry. This is an evolution that has seen Escada transform from its beginnings in 1985 to being a worldwide market leader for the supply of control and data systems to the corrugated industry, supplying plant-wide solutions from the Roll Store, through the Corrugator, to Finished Goods and also in Data Traceability and Analysis.
The 30th anniversary also sees other landmarks for Escada, not least the imminent opening (October) of our new corporate headquarters and innovation centre at C4DI in Hull. These new headquarters will be focussed on accelerating the further evolution of Escada and will house business management and our newly formed sales team. It is our pleasure to welcome you to our stand at FEFCO (021 and 022) to discuss our progress, what is new at Escada, how we can help you and we extend the invitation you to join us in our anniversary celebrations!

These relationships and achievements have defined our history and will aid to shape our future.
On yer bike! .........
The Yorkshire Wold’s Cycle Challenge has become a staple of the Escada Systems calendar. Greg has ridden it every year since its inception in 2010 and has been accompanied by various Escada teammates over the years, including Kevin, Mike, Mark and Len.
The ride takes place over a weekend in mid-July and takes in some of the most beautiful Yorkshire countryside. The Challenge comes from the fact that the ride is 146 miles long and includes some serious hills and banks, enough to make grown men cry.
The challenge was set up by the cycling championing charity Sustrans who worked closely with Ryedale Special Families (RSF), a local charity that supports hundreds of children and young adults and their families with special needs, illnesses and disabilities. Escada Systems recognised the great work that this charity do and wanted to do their bit by becoming an annual sponsor of the challenge.
Each year sees its own trials and tribulations, from hail and thunder in the first year, to punctures, falls and equipment failures in subsequent years, yet the ride is growing in popularity due to the cheerful atmosphere during the cycling and in the evening at the overnight camp. Serious riders swap stories with novices or fun riders and almost everyone swears to “see you next year”.

Escada become Hull’s Centre for Digital Innovation’s
From the following article in the BDAILY:
The innovative office development - the Centre for Digital Innovation (C4DI) - has secured its first office tenant.
The Escada Group, an international hardware and software developer and supplier of control systems to the corrugated paper manufacturing industry, is to lease a 2000 sq ft unit on the second floor of the building.
C4DI, which was developed by Hull-based Wykeland Group, acts as the centrepiece of @TheDock, a huge regeneration scheme located in Hull’s Fruit Market and Central Dry Dock area.
The 23,000 sq ft office building is designed to cater for start-ups in the digital and tech industries, and aims to create a thriving digital community which will help conventional businesses innovate, grow and use technology more effectively.
The Escada Group, which works with clients ranging from independent businesses to large, global groups, will base its corporate headquarters at C4DI while maintaining other offices and production facilities in Malton and Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and in Atlanta, USA.
Gavin Bushby, founder and chairman of the Escada Group, said: “As part of our company strategy, our vision is to create a more corporate-focused company with an emphasis on product and systems innovation and safeguarding the future success, expansion and stability of the Escada Group.
“During our investigation process we met with the C4DI team and were extremely inspired with their vision and enthusiasm. The links with the universities and colleges are vital for us to recruit and nurture talent for the future, and the community that will develop along with C4DI will provide us with essential opportunities to build relationships with other skilled individuals and technical companies.
“We feel by moving our corporate headquarters to C4DI we can achieve our vision and much, much more.”
The ground floor of C4DI will feature hotdesks, public workspaces, meeting room and a large presentation/studio space which has a variety of uses. The building’s upper floors will provide different sized offices aimed at SME and fast-growing companies in the digital and technology sector.
Furthermore, the development has also installed the fastest broadband in the city provided by KC Lightstream with each desk providing the user with a 100Mb symmetric connection.
Mr Bushby added: “Hull has a strong, emerging digital technology community and an excellent, high-speed fibre optic network which is really important for a business like ours, those at the forefront of developing some of the best technologies in the world.”
John Connolly, managing director of C4DI Ltd, the innovation and workspace management company said: “We are delighted that the Escada Group is relocating to Hull for its new corporate HQ. The move reflects the benefits of the knowledge, connectivity, infrastructure and support available to fast-growing technology businesses that we have here in Hull.
“Over the last few months the Escada Group has become more involved with the C4DI community. We’ve seen how their projects have brought new work to start-up businesses and how the business has developed new products and solutions by tapping into the expertise and talent already in Hull.
“The Escada Group’s global reputation as an innovator within their field, together with their ambition and plans for the growth of their business is hugely exciting both for them, and for the city, and we look forward to their team being based here.”
Our new HQ is being built.
Last October (2014) we announced that as part of our new Group restructure we were in discussions with the C4Di management team about a possible partnership to locate our HQ into their new multi-million pound property development in Hull. We are pleased to confirm that Escada has become the first company to officially take space in the Centre for Digital Innovation (C4DI), which is earmarked as the centre-piece of the digital and creative industries quarter around the Fruit Market in Hull.
Escada will take space on the second floor of the development.
Building work has already started, with the structure really coming together significantly over the last few weeks:
With the scheduled completion date of mid-October (2015) still on track, our new HQ will cap what is an exciting 30th year for the Escada Group!!
